OverviewBEUMER Group’s Sectro is a fully automated passenger and carry-on baggage screening solution designed for airport terminals. The system transforms screening from a linear flow into parallel processing by logically centralising functions, improving passenger throughput and reducing required operator numbers.
How it worksPassengers place carry-on items at self-service divest stations guided by a touch screen that links the passenger’s biometric data to the baggage. Items are automatically routed to a centralised screening area. Scan images are forwarded to a remote control room for image assessment. Once the passenger and their carry-on are cleared, items are returned at a self-service reclaim point using the passenger's unique biometric ID. If an item is flagged, the passenger is routed to a dedicated re-check aisle for operator-assisted inspection, avoiding congestion in the main flow.
Benefits- Modular, flexible layout to manage peak passenger volumes and reduce queuing
- Up to 30% reduction in staffing needs through high automation
- Spacious self-service zones enabling parallel processing to prevent bottlenecks
- Advanced and enclosed scanning units to enhance detection capabilities
- Biometric integration to reliably link passengers with their baggage and reclaim process
- Centralised screening with remote control room for efficient image review and decision-making
- Dedicated re-check aisles to handle exceptions without disrupting primary throughput
- Low wear and tear through use of standard spare parts
Deployment & integrationThe Sectro solution can be implemented in both new and existing terminals. It supports reconfiguration of passenger flows and terminal layouts and integrates with modern baggage automation, biometric systems and digital twin frameworks to optimise operations.
