The challengeOperating in remote or hard-to-reach regions presents significant challenges for deployed teams. Crews face unpredictable weather, limited visibility and rapidly changing atmospheric conditions that can compromise mission safety and success. Deployment locations often lack infrastructure or ground teams to collect real-time meteorological data, forcing operators to plan with incomplete information. This uncertainty increases the risk of errors during aircraft relocation, landings or supply drops and requires rapid, reliable decision-making under pressure.
Our solutionThe S2-D drop sonde provides precise meteorological data without requiring personnel on the ground. The probe is released from an aircraft and records and transmits key weather information in real time. Its rugged design ensures dependable operation in harsh conditions while LoRa communication enables data reception in remote areas. Accurate atmospheric readings let operators calculate optimal deployment and drop parameters, reducing uncertainty and improving mission safety. The S2-D is therefore a highly effective tool for deployment planning where conventional monitoring is not available.
SecurityThe system operates in approved ISM bands (400–440 MHz) or temporarily authorised military frequencies and uses low transmission power to reduce detectability. LoRa modulation and AES-128 encryption provide enhanced communication security. Cut-down and delete functions protect sensitive data such as encryption keys and GPS information.
