Description

Overview
Leveraging over 50 years of experience in electronic warfare, HENSOLDT's Kalaetron Attack is an airborne Electronic Attack (EA) system in the Kalaetron self‑protection family. The AESA- and DRFM-based solution enables digital targeting and jamming of signals, simultaneous engagement of more than ten threats, cockpit control, platform integration and autonomous operation. A 360° ESM capability passively detects and identifies threats and cross-references an onboard library to inform the aircrew.

The challenge
Modern combat systems rely extensively on the electromagnetic spectrum. Electronic Attack (EA) is required to jam, disrupt or spoof adversary sensors and communications, counter integrated air defence systems (IADS) and enable safe operations for fighters and enabling aircraft within contested environments.

Our solution
Kalaetron Attack delivers a digital EA capability with AESA and DRFM technologies for agile, multi-threat jamming. It supports cockpit control and integration with existing aircraft interfaces, autonomous modes and continuous 360° passive ESM for real‑time threat detection and identification.

Features
EW AESA with GaN solid state amplifiers
  • Instant multi‑beam capability
  • Multi‑threat fast‑time multiplexing
  • Continuous Wave (CW) operation (100% duty cycle)
  • Multiple polarizations supported
  • Direction finding
  • Wide field of view
  • Inherent beam stabilization for agile flight maneuvers

Digital Radio Frequency Memory (DRFM)
  • Included EA processor for mission management
  • Advanced jamming techniques generator
  • Wide instantaneous bandwidth
  • Interface to onboard ESM systems
  • Dual‑channel operation
  • Autonomous or operator‑controlled jamming
  • Pulse and time‑domain sample streaming

  • Combinable jamming techniques
  • Predictive PRI tracking
  • Proven software suite covering mission lifecycle

Configuration
Kalaetron Attack is available in three mission‑adapted versions:
Stand‑off jamming
  • Long‑range jamming conducted outside the weapon engagement zone (WEZ)
  • Combined radar and communications jamming
  • Software‑defined, modular and scalable solution
  • Adaptable to multiple platforms
  • Designed to meet NATO and operational requirements

Escort jamming
  • Achieve spectrum dominance at required standoff distance
  • Podded or integrated configurations
  • Protect own forces from enemy air defence systems
  • Suppress or degrade adversary electromagnetic capabilities
  • Combined ESM and ECM application

Stand‑in jamming
  • Enable operations in close proximity to hostile air defences
  • Complement airborne jamming and mission sets
  • Preemptive EW measures against battlefield threats
  • Software‑defined, modular and scalable
