Japan Airlines (JAL) selected JPA to design and develop a blue sky First Class suite for the airline’s new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. JAL’s brief specified a seating concept which would create differentiation as well as reflect the brand identity of the airline and Japanese culture. JAL required an elegant and refined design balanced with modernity. The JAL Suite has been designed to offer passengers a comfortable, luxurious, spacious and private environment. Visually the seat combines the familiar with the cutting-edge. The seat’s shape is reminiscent of a traditional armchair; its 5-inch wide, thickly-padded armrests reinforcing this impression. At the touch of a button, the armrests smoothly retract as the seat converts into a full-flat bed.
