Description

Product description
The Gen5 TB50 Lithium-ion Aircraft Battery is a same-size replacement for standard 44 amp-hour aircraft batteries, delivering 50 amp-hour nominal at 23°C with significantly lower mass, integrated thermal control and on-condition maintenance via a built-in BIT. TSO-certified and designed for extreme temperatures from -40°C to +70°C, it provides higher starting voltage, reduced starter wear and extended service life. Manufactured by Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics (True Blue Power) in Wichita, Kansas, USA. Typical service life: 8 years. Automatic internal heater and two-year limited warranty.

Benefits
  • Direct same-size replacement for standard 44 Ah batteries with increased usable capacity and reduced weight.
  • Lightweight: 44.3 lb (20.1 kg) — up to 50% lighter than lead‑acid or NiCad solutions.
  • 50 amp-hour nominal capacity at 23°C (73°F).
  • Proprietary lithium‑ion cell chemistry optimized for aviation applications.
  • Higher voltage during engine start — less starter wear, lower maintenance and longer life.
  • Wide operating temperature range: -40°C to +70°C (-40°F to +158°F) with automatic internal heater for cold starts.
  • High energy density: 66.3 Wh/kg (83.1 Wh/liter).
  • Comprehensive protection suite: overcharge, over-discharge, over-current, short circuit, over-temperature, under-temperature and charge-current limiting.
  • Communication: ARINC 429, Analog and Discrete interfaces for integration with aircraft systems.
  • Built-in Test (BIT) indicator provides real-time state-of-charge and state-of-health for condition-based maintenance.
  • On-condition maintenance reduces unnecessary removals and downtime.
  • FAA TSO certified and built in Wichita, Kansas, USA.

Benefits / Key Features (summary)
  • Compact, lightweight Gen5 TB50 design as a drop-in replacement for 44 Ah batteries.
  • Fast recharge capability and improved engine-start performance.
  • Integrated battery management and diagnostics (BIT) enabling condition-based maintenance.
