In 2025, there are over 4,300 commercial airports worldwide, supported by extensive infrastructure for aviation jet fuel storage and distribution. According to project data, in the absence of jet fuel vapor control systems, the average loss rate during loading and unloading operations is approximately 0.005% (5×10⁻⁵).
By implementing vapor recovery systems to capture and treat jet fuel vapors generated from tank farms and truck loading bays, this loss rate can be reduced to approximately 0.0005% (5×10⁻⁶), significantly minimizing fuel evaporation losses and improving overall resource efficiency.
Based on a global aviation fuel turnover of 386 million tonnes in 2025, this reduction is expected to eliminate approximately 17,370 tonnes of fuel losses annually. This translates into significant economic savings while also reducing carbon emissions by more than 50,000 tonnes per year, contributing to improved air quality and environmental performance on a global scale.
