Designed by Charles and Ray Eames, the family of Plastic Chairs combines superb comfort and robust quality with a timeless aesthetic. Since the Side Chairs meet the stringent demands of seating for public waiting areas, they are also available on base beams in a variety of different lengths. Configuration options include small table elements, which can be mounted between the seat shells.
Material description
Seat shell: dyed-through polypropylene. All models are available with a seat cushion (screwed to the seat shell) or full upholstery. The fully upholstered version has moulded polyurethane foam padding covered in fabric, attached to the shell with a welted edge. Different shell and upholstery colours and various bases provide a multitude of possible combinations.
Options: the Eames Plastic Chair is available as a visitor chair, dining chair, rocking chair, swivel chair or in stacking versions and with ganging brackets for row seating. Beam-mounted shells are suited for use in waiting areas.
Table units: black solid core material (560 x 430 mm).
Base: two-legged base beams in different lengths accommodate 2 to 5 chair shells or table units. T-beam, epoxy-coated in basic dark, polished aluminium legs. Equipped with plastic glides for carpet or anti-skid felt glides for hard floors.
