The temperature-stabilised turning-boring-milling unit is equipped with a B-axis for machining or gauging at any angle to the workpiece. In a unique way, MILLTURN’s combine a lathe, a 5-axis machining center and a 3-D-coordinate measuring machine. In the turning mode, the tool carrier is indexed and clamped hydraulically so that even at heavy cuts or in the case of a collision, spindle bearings are safe from damage. For heavy roughing cuts in turning or milling operations the B-axis can be indexed in steps of 2.5°. The central coolant supply through the spindle with up to 80 bar coolant pressure is suitable for gun drilling. Via an external coolant supply also ejector drills can be fully supplied with coolant. Linear glass scales in X- axis, Y-axis and Z-axis (optional) allows using the MILLTURN as a coordinate measuring machine, which is supported by a comprehensive WFL-measuring cycle package.
