It is very important to fully protect your eyes as early as possible. Aviation challenges us beyond all standards so that we keep safety, protection and health very high. Our scientific study, conducted by FHNW Prof. Krejci, with regard to dangerous blue light radiation, which was then published in the Journal of Physics & Health in 2023 according to ICNIRP guidelines.

At 12,000 m, the pilots have 2.5 times more blue light radiation than we measure on the ground. It is our credo and our USPs to have increased eye protection. We need to better protect our eyes preventively against eye diseases such as cataracts, ARMD (age-related macular degeneration), retinal detachment, retinal pigmentosa, etc.

In our study, we reached the limit value according to ICNIRP in less than 3 seconds. that is real with the naked eye in direct sunlight. When the sun is low, this is very often the case in the winter months. People underestimate this problem because no one really knows or explains the danger. The accumulation of this blue light radiation during the entire life cycle can be partly responsible in old age in the area of ARMD. Light stress and its energy are not taken into account enough today. There are other factors such as age, DNA, smoking, unbalanced diet, physics that have not been taken into account enough as well as incorrect sun and eye protection contribute to the fact that this disease will continue to increase and spread with more than 200 million affected according to the WHO. Industrialised countries are mainly affected.

It is important to know for all those who are about to have cataract surgery what they absolutely have to take into account. Normal 100% UV sunglasses and, if possible, no side protection, do not protect the macula and retina sufficiently. Also, you need to know that dark-tinted sunglasses don't have adequate protection for their eyes, as the fovea/macula desperately needs. Many people misunderstand glare protection and eye protection and forget about the important side protection.
