OverviewMaxiMill – S-Power sets new standards for face milling cast materials. With a high tooth count and double-sided indexable inserts, the system offers optimal performance and a highly stable, low-vibration construction. The double wedge clamp ensures indexable inserts are easy to use and securely attached.
Application and performanceDesigned for face milling of cast components (GJS, GJV, GJL), the system achieves high removal rates while improving surface quality and reducing burr formation. Its optimal number of cutting edges (example: 12 teeth on Ø63 mm) and a positive cutting edge design enable high speeds and cost-effectiveness. Typical uses include brake system components and mounting surfaces of high-performance engines.
How it worksThe 88° setting angle enables a high tooth count and small chip spaces. Double-sided indexable inserts with eight usable cutting edges, selected substrates and DRAGONSKIN coatings provide high performance and smooth cutting action. Robust insert seat and double wedge clamp guarantee secure holding and high axial and radial run-out accuracy.
Advantages & benefits- Higher indexable insert strength compared to competitor products → provides exceptional removal rates
- Feed reduction per tooth possible → fractures on the casting wall avoided
- Double wedge clamp as standard → easy handling and quick insert changes
- Positive cutting edge design → prevents burr formation and fractures on workpiece edges
- Maximum number of teeth on the milling cutter diameter → highly cost-effective due to maximum speed
- Peripherally ground indexable inserts → high axial and radial run-out accuracy
- Asymmetrical insert seat → reduces vibrations
- Wear-resistant indexable insert grades with PVD or CVD coating → long tool lives
Product range and machining dataStandard diameters available: Ø 56 to 125 mm. Maximum depth of cut around 8 mm. Recommended reduced feed per tooth values between 0.08 and 0.15 mm for cast materials to minimize fractures on the casting wall while maintaining high efficiency thanks to the high number of teeth. Peripherally ground indexable inserts provide close tolerances and high surface quality.
Ground indexable insert – features- ISO-P / -K range of indexable inserts
