OverviewThe KSEM™ modular drill system covers intermediate-diameter drilling from 12.5 to 40 mm (0.492–1.575") with configurations up to 10×D. The modular design (body + carbide insert) delivers high feed capability and process stability across a wide range of materials. Four large contact surfaces in the insert pocket and a central locking screw ensure secure insert clamping and long tool life. Internal coolant is supplied directly to the cutting zone for improved tool life and chip evacuation. Reconditionable carbide inserts reduce inventory and tool cost.
NEW! KSEM HPR InsertsKSEM HPR inserts extend the portfolio with the proven HPR point geometry optimized for cast iron and steels. The point geometry and advanced corner radius enable:
- drilling at highest feed rates
- excellent hole positioning
- superior surface finish
The HPR inserts are available in grade KCPK15A for extended life and improved process reliability in abrasive materials.
KSEM Portfolio Inserts- HPG geometry for alloyed steels — straight cutting edge for maximum stability in short-chipping steels and interrupted cuts.
- HP geometry for long-chipping steels — curved cutting edge for optimal chip formation.
- HPL geometry for stainless steels — creates two chips per flute for improved chip evacuation.
- PC geometry for piloting in all materials.
- FEG geometry for flat-bottom hole drilling and piloting on inclined entries in steel and cast iron.
- SPL geometry for low cutting forces in high-temperature alloys and non-ferrous materials — four-facet design with four margin lands for centering and hole straightness.
Applications & Advantages- Intermediate-diameter drilling range (12.5–40 mm) with options up to 10×D.
- High-feed capability for maximum productivity.
- Four large contact surfaces in the insert pocket for stability in stacked plates, cross holes and inclined exits.
- Central locking screw for secure insert clamping and process safety.
- Internal coolant directed to the cutting zone for improved tool life and chip evacuation.
- Reconditionable carbide inserts to extend tool life and reduce inventory/cost.
- Multiple insert geometries and material-specific point designs for versatility across steels, stainless steels, cast irons and non-ferrous materials.
