OverviewThe VRD active variable volume flow controller regulates airflow in round ducts of Comfort Air Technology systems independently of inlet pressure. An airtight shut-off is possible. Available with dynamic (VRD active) or static (VRD active-s) measurement principles. Activation and control require external electrical power. Dual-damper versions allow parallel control of supply and exhaust (e.g., hotel rooms). The measured side (supply or extract) is controlled to the setpoint while the other side is mechanically synchronized.
Key features- Cost-effective design and reduced wiring: compact controller for supply and exhaust air
- High control accuracy in the low air velocity range due to differential pressure amplification
- Short installation length, insensitive to inlet conditions and easy to integrate
- Large control ratio 1:10 (air velocities 1–10 m/s)
- Optional static differential pressure measurement suitable for laboratories and hospitals
Function / OperationThe device measures volume flow and compares it to the setpoint; control is achieved by adjusting the damper(s). For two-damper versions, one side is measured and controlled while the second is mechanically coupled for balanced supply/exhaust. Dynamic measurement is intended for clean air; static measurement is available for polluted air applications.
