Description

Overview
The Trig TT23 and TT23G compact transponders are the next evolution in Trig compact transponders, designed to be lighter, smaller and more compact to reduce space and weight in the aircraft. Both units are Class 1 Mode S transponders with 250 W nominal transmitter output and are ADS-B compatible. The TT23 requires an external certified GPS position source for ADS-B out; the TT23G includes a built-in ETSO-C199 certified GPS sensor for integrated ADS-B Out capability.

Key benefits
  • Compact form factor – fits in a compact or standard 57 mm instrument hole.
  • Minimal depth – maximises space behind the panel.
  • Integrated altitude encoder in the control head.
  • TT23G has an internal certified GPS sensor (ETSO-C199).
  • Certified for IFR and VFR flight.
  • Manual dimming feature (adjustable backlight).
  • Low power consumption.
  • EASA ETSO and FAA TSO Certification – includes TSO-C166b (ADS-B standard).
  • Free European Minor Change approvals.
  • Designed and manufactured in the U.K.

Product design
Trig compact transponders comprise two main parts: a compact control head (TC20) with a built-in altitude encoder and a separate hardware back box that can be installed remotely on the airframe. The control head is 54 mm (2 3/25”) deep and fits in a 57 mm (2 ¼”) round hole or a compact mount; installation fittings for both options are included. The control head offers a clear, bright display with manual dimming and is splash-proof for open cockpit and seaplane operations.

Power output and ADS-B
Both TT23 and TT23G provide 250 W nominal power at the connector, meeting international requirements for 1090ES ADS-B Out and qualifying as a Class 1 transponder. When paired with a suitable certified GPS position source (for TT23) or using the internal GPS (TT23G), the units provide ADS-B Out capability in line with FAA TSO-C166b.

Compatible products and use cases
The TT23 can be paired with Trig GPS units such as the TN70 or TN72 (depending on the certification/aircraft type) or other third-party certified GPS position sources to provide a compliant ADS-B Out installation. The TT23G’s internal GPS removes the requirement for an external position source for many voluntary and experimental installations.
