Who is Onboard Logistics and What Do We Do?

Onboard Logistics was founded in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 aviation crisis. The company’s founders—bringing together expertise in airline catering management and engineering design—identified a clear operational gap within the industry.

As airlines shifted into cost-saving mode, onboard services were significantly reduced. For example, meal tray services were eliminated on many short-haul flights. This led to an imbalance in onboard equipment: airlines found themselves with an excess of meal trolleys but a shortage of waste trolleys.

This is where the Flex-e-Bag provided a simple yet highly effective solution.

By inserting a Flex-e-Bag into an existing meal trolley, airlines could instantly convert it into a waste trolley—eliminating the need for additional equipment.

In 2003, Onboard Logistics was recognized for this innovation, winning a Mercury Award at the International Travel Catering Association (ITCA) exhibition.

This marked the birth of Flex-e-Bag: a smart, practical response to a major operational challenge.
