Scintam Engineering Ltd.
About Us
Scintam has developed the only portable EDM machine for seized fastener removal that measures and displays machining depth in real time and automatically detects when the end of a fastener is reached. Founded in 2021, Scintam Engineering is a spin-out from Nottingham University, following some research sponsored by Rolls Royce. The company is a specialist in electrical discharge machining ("EDM") used to remove seized fasteners. Its portable EDM is called FastEDR for removing seized fasteners, such as bolts, screws and rivets in aerospace applications. It has also developed a solution for removing broken stuck carbide drills. The company has designed a set of fixtures for removing seized blade locks from the CFM56 HPC. CFM56 is the most widely used aero engine in commercial aviation. It has a method for removing stripped and seized bolts from the CF6 stationary air seal. It has also designed and manufactured a large format CNC machine for removing seized fasteners in large batches in the remanufacturing industry.
