Description

Overview
The Dynon SkyView HDX System Software delivers system firmware, database and sensor-definition updates for SkyView HDX displays used in Experimental and Light Sport aircraft (not STC-approved). Updates are provided as Quick Update Packages for the US/Western Europe or as Individual Files for other regions and advanced users. USB flash drives (FAT32, up to 32GB) are used to load update files onto each display.

What's New (Release Highlights)
  • 17.5 (05/14/2026): Reduced occurrences of System Events 20, 21 and 3; fixed overvoltage detection on 28V aircraft with ACM.
  • 17.4 (12/02/2025): Added SV-XPNDR-263 transponder support, on-screen NAV tuning for compatible radios, new sensor support and World Magnetic Model 2025 updates.
  • 17.3–17.0: Added Turbotech/Rotax/ULPower engine support, SV-COM-PANEL OLED support, 12" SV-HDX1200 compatibility, emergency glide feature and numerous autopilot, ADS‑B and UI improvements.

Two Ways to Update
  • Method 1 — SkyView Update Package (US & Western Europe): Pre-packaged Quick Update Packages including recommended databases and EMS Sensor Definitions for typical installations (recommended for systems running v4.0+).
  • Method 2 — Individual File Updates: Download individual system firmware, Engine Sensor Definitions, navigation/obstacle databases, base map and terrain files and load as needed. Some files must be installed on every display; others propagate via the SkyView network.

SkyView HDX 17.5 Quick Package Contents (examples)
  • SkyView HDX 17.5 Software Update (05/14/2026)
  • US Aviation Database (when included)
  • US Obstacles Database (when included)
  • EMS Sensor Definitions (sensor_202518.sfg — 05/14/2026)
  • US Stadium TFRs (legacy data when packaged)

Engine Sensor Definitions
Engine Sensor Definitions update calibration files used by the EMS module without changing user sensor mappings, redlines, alarms or layout. Keep sensor files current unless a custom .SFG file is intentionally used.

Install Instructions (summary)
  • Download required files to a PC and copy to the root of a FAT32 USB flash drive (max 32GB; do not place files in folders).
  • Insert USB into a SkyView USB port while the system is powered up.
  • Enter SETUP MENU and choose SETUP > SYSTEM SOFTWARE > Upgrade System Software to load firmware; displays will reboot and may update networked modules.
  • To load other files use SETUP > SYSTEM SOFTWARE > LOAD FILES...; install files per file-type requirements and reboot to verify updates.
  • Verify all modules show READY under SETUP > NETWORK SETUP > NETWORK STATUS; reconfigure network if necessary.

Notes & Limitations
  • Software on this page is intended for Experimental and Light Sport aircraft only and is not approved for STC installations.
  • USB flash drives must be FAT32 formatted and limited to 32GB for reliable updates.
  • Certain module updates (e.g., SV-COM-PANEL) may require manual post-update steps or power-cycling.
