Description

Overview
The Armed Black Hawk merges the lethality of an attack helicopter with the lift and flexibility of a utility platform, offering a single proven airframe that can perform every medium-category mission required for 21st Century Security®. It can be rapidly reconfigured for air mobile assault, close support fire, medical evacuation, ISR, and tactical airlift.

Key features
  • Modular armed kit production-ready now and upgradeable later with a six-station weapons management suite including forward-firing guns, rocket pods and optional precision missiles.
  • Utility capability for up to 11 troops, external sling-load cargo, medical evacuation stretchers and ISR sensor packages.
  • Cost advantage through lower acquisition price and reduced lifecycle expense versus comparable attack helicopters.
  • Robust, long-term support with crashworthy airframe, redundant systems, and a supply chain backed by U.S. Government support beyond 2070.

Attack missions
  • Suppressive Fire: high-rate sustained firing with 70mm (2.75-inch) rockets and .50 caliber forward-firing guns for suppression of ground threats.
  • Anti-Armor: engage tanks and armored vehicles from standoff or on the move; configured to carry up to 16 Hellfire or JAGM missiles.
  • Surveillance / Armed Reconnaissance: employ EO/IR sensors during scout missions while armed with rockets and machine guns.
  • Armed Escort: protect convoys or coastal traffic using rockets and fixed-forward or crew-served .50 caliber and 7.62mm machine guns.
  • Air Assault: cabin loads for 11 troops and two gunners or remove seats for cargo and provide external sling-load operations on the move.

Pilot controls and weapon stations
  • Each pilot can operate up to four weapons stations distributed on two external wings.
  • Each wing can be configured with any mix of a fixed 12.7 mm gun, 7- or 19-shot Hydra 70 rocket pods, or air-to-ground missiles.
  • Pilots also control two forward-firing 7.62 mm mini-guns mounted at the cabin windows when not crew-served.
  • Durable cabin designed for rapid reconfiguration to meet mission requirements.

Additional information
  • Platform offered via Foreign Military Sales or Direct Commercial Sales with full parts, training and logistics commonality with US Army, Air Force and Marine Corps UH-60 support.
  • European-built S-70 airframes and close-support kits are installed by PZL Mielec in Poland.
