Description

Overview
Chimera Land is a non-contact Laser Velocity Sensor (LVS) that provides precise 3D body-velocity updates directly to an INS navigation filter, eliminating cumulative errors from mechanical odometry. Engineered for demanding industrial and defense environments, Chimera Land integrates with Advanced Navigation INS platforms including Boreas and Certus Evo.

Performance
3D dead-reckoning positional error per traveled distance: ~0.05% TD (CEP50)†
3D body-velocity scaling error: 200 ppm (max)
Performance note: based on distance 1 to 100 km with average velocity ≥ 7 km/hr.

Features
  • High-accuracy 3D velocity: infrared laser Doppler velocimetry measures vehicle body velocity with high sensitivity and update rate, capturing complex motions such as vibration, wheel slip and wind buffering.
  • Extended dead-reckoning capability: when paired with a high-performance INS, supports sustained positioning in GNSS-denied, jammed or spoofed environments.
  • Terrain-adaptive operation: effective on sand, dirt, rock, grass, gravel, bitumen and concrete, and in complex terrains such as mountains, tunnels and open pits.
  • Rugged design: certified to withstand dust, vibration and extreme temperature ranges typical of underground mining and military deployments.

Applications
  • Fleet management
  • Underground localization and navigation
  • High-precision machine guidance
  • Haulage
  • Tactical vehicles
