A more recent Arriel variant, the Arriel 2D was certified in May 2011. It powers the Airbus H125 and H130. In service since 2011 on Airbus’ H125 and H130, the Arriel 2D offers extremely competitive operating costs, 10% lower in average than those of earlier variants. In service since 2011 on Airbus’ H125 and H130, more than 1,000 Arriel 2D equipped H125 and H130 helicopters are in service worldwide, collectively logging more than one million flight hours. In 2018, Safran announced an extension of 25 % the time between overhaul (TBO) to 5,000 hours for new and in-service helicopters. The most popular helicopter engine in its class The Arriel family is divided into two product lines: Arriel 1 and Arriel 2. Their power ranges are, respectively, from 650 to 750 shp and 830 to over 1,000 shp. Every day the engine is used in all types of helicopter missions and has earned a reputation as a safe and reliable partner for operators flying EMS, search and rescue, law enforcement or maritime surveillance missions, often under demanding conditions.
