OverviewRulon® AR is a light maroon, engineered ceramic-filled PTFE designed as the modern version of the original Rulon® A. It offers greater flexibility than Rulon® LR and is intended for seals, bonded coatings and slide surfaces where improved physical properties are required. The material is chemically inert and suitable for extended non-lubricated service.
Key properties- Filled PTFE: engineered ceramic filler, light maroon color
- High compressive strength
- Low coefficient of friction
- Chemical resistance and electrical insulation
- Excellent abrasion and corrosion resistance in dry service
- Capable of operating at high PV values (see performance)
Performance data & features- Friction coefficient: 0.15–0.25
- Max PV (dry/lub): 0.35 MPa·m/s (table entry)
- Capable of operating at PV values up to approximately 10,000 (intermittent higher PV possible, as noted)
- Superior dry friction behavior and reduction of stick/slip
- Reduced hardware abrasion
- Minimal moisture absorption and stable dimensions in aggressive chemicals
Service conditions & mechanicalTemperature range: -150°C to +200°C
Mechanical strength (compressive): 7 MPa
Manufacturing & available formsManufacturing process: compression molding
Available forms: rods and tubes, skived sheets, tapes, extruded shapes, automatically molded bearings and components, stamped or machined seals, machined parts/shapes.
Dimensions (as listed)Rods and Tubes: (ϕ) 1.2m x (L) 3m
