OverviewRulon® XL is a tan-colored filled PTFE engineered for superior heat and wear resistance in dynamic bearing and sealing applications. It is optimized for contact with aluminum (including anodized surfaces) and delivers very low wear compared with other Rulon® grades. Its formulation gives low deformation under load and strong chemical compatibility, with reliable performance in vacuum service.
AdvantagesRulon® XL is non-abrasive and reduces frictional damage to softer mating parts. It provides low wear in moderate to high-speed sliding applications and resists dimensional change in many chemicals. Avoid use with strong alkalis and in steam applications.
Applications & Typical Offerings- Typical product forms: compression-molded bearings and components, sleeve, flanged and thrust bearings, stamped/form seals, extruded profiles, machined parts, molded shapes.
- Common applications: vacuum pumps, mixers, compressors, household and industrial appliances, electrical insulators, linear slides, shaft supports, wear bands.
- Notable performance: excellent outgassing for vacuum systems; suitable for wet and dry environments (excluding steam).
Standard SpecificationsMaterials: tan fluoropolymer; engineered filled PTFE compound.
Service conditions: Temperature range −240°C to +288°C; Compressive strength ≈ 8.3 MPa.
Manufacturing: compression molding.
Key values: friction coefficient 0.15–0.25; maximum PV (dry/lubricated) 0.35 MPa·m/s.
Dimensions: rods & tubes (ϕ) 1.2 m × (L) 3 m; sheets (L,W) 610 mm × (ϕ) 80 mm; tapes (W) 1 m × thickness [0.086–6] mm.
Performance Highlights- Low dry friction and stick/slip elimination
- Reduced hardware abrasion on mating parts
