OverviewSpot probes are eddy-current inspection probes designed to detect surface and subsurface flaws, perform crack detection, thickness measurement, conductivity testing and coating-thickness assessment in industrial nondestructive testing (NDT). Available across multiple frequency bands and diameters, these probes are engineered for localized scanning and high sensitivity in both reflection and bridge configurations.
Series and variantsThree primary series cover common NDT needs: Standard Bridge (bridge configuration for differential measurements), Standard Reflection (reflection absolute coils for single-sided inspections) and Corrosion Probes (SPO-532x series balanced for material loss detection in aluminum structures). Each series is offered in several diameter and frequency combinations to match inspection targets.
Available configurationsConfigurations span broad frequency ranges (approx. 100 Hz up to 500 kHz) and diameters from 6.3 mm (0.25 in.) to 19.0 mm (0.75 in.). Connector options include Triax Fischer/LEMO and Powerlink™ / 7-Pin LEMO quick-release connectors. Multiple part IDs and item numbers correspond to specific frequency/diameter/connector combinations for easy ordering.
Technical specifications- Primary use: detection of surface and near-surface flaws; crack detection; thickness measurement; conductivity and coating-thickness measurement.
- Frequency ranges: model-dependent options roughly 100 Hz–500 kHz.
- Available diameters: 6.3 mm (0.25 in.), 7.9 mm (0.31 in.), 11.2 mm (0.44 in.), 12.7 mm (0.50 in.), 15.7 mm (0.62 in.), 19.0 mm (0.75 in.).
- Detectable flaw size: typically approximately one-half of the probe diameter (larger coil diameters increase minimum detectable flaw size).
- Connector types: Triax Fischer/LEMO and Powerlink™ / 7-Pin LEMO quick-release connectors.
- Shielding: probes are shielded to optimize sensitivity and reduce noise during scanning.
- Corrosion probes (SPO-532x): specifically balanced and configured with reflection absolute coils for detecting material loss in aluminum structures.
- Ordering: each frequency/diameter/connector combination has a unique part ID and item number; contact supplier or consult datasheet for exact match.
Ordering and compatibilitySelect probe diameter and frequency to match the target defect size and inspection depth. Choose the connector type that is compatible with your eddy-current instrument (Triax Fischer/LEMO or Powerlink™ / 7-Pin LEMO). For corrosion monitoring, specify SPO-532x series variants. Refer to part IDs/item numbers or contact the supplier for calibration, compatibility and delivery details.
