Description

Description

The 90-degree Right Angle Surface Probe is a detachable-shaft eddy-current surface probe designed for inspection in restricted-access zones and around fasteners. It features a small-diameter housing and compact coil optimized for higher-frequency inspection of surface-breaking cracks.

Advantages
  • Suitable for detecting small surface defects.
  • Accesses areas unreachable with standard straight probes.
  • Drop geometry enables inspection around rivets and fasteners.
  • Available with Powerlink™ connectivity.
  • Offered in multiple shaft lengths and drop sizes.
  • Available in bridge (absolute), reflection (send-receive) or bridge differential configurations.

Applications
  • Through-paint inspection of aircraft rivets.
  • Aircraft structure, unit and engine inspections in aerospace maintenance.
  • Through-paint detection of stress corrosion cracking in stainless and carbon steel.
  • Surface crack inspection of manufacturing and transportation equipment.

Absolute bridge type probes
  • Internal reference coils provide close matching to the test coil when used with a Triax Fischer or Powerlink™ connector.
  • Shielded coil construction for improved resolution.
  • Detects cracks in all orientations.
  • Widely used probe type with cost-effective performance.

Reflection type probes (send-receive / driver-pickup)
  • Produces responses comparable to absolute bridge probes.
  • Available with stacked or concentric driver and pickup coil arrangements.
  • Enables multi-directional crack detection.
  • Stable performance across temperature variations.
  • Operates over a wide frequency range.

Bridge differential probe
  • Designed for detection of very small defects such as fatigue cracks.
  • Provides directional sensitivity for oriented defect detection.
