Description

Overview
Detachable stainless-steel straight-shaft eddy current surface probes in a pencil style housing. Small-diameter housings and high-frequency coils are optimized for detecting surface-breaking cracks and small defects. Available in reflection (send-receive) and absolute bridge configurations with Powerlink™ or Triax (Fischer™*) connector options.

Key advantages
  • High sensitivity to small, surface-breaking defects.
  • Access to bottoms of holes aligned with the opening.
  • Pencil-style, easy-to-handle straight-shaft design.
  • Optional Powerlink™ connectivity for fast setup.
  • Multiple shaft lengths and coil configurations available.
  • Offered in reflection and absolute bridge types to match inspection needs.

Typical applications
  • Inspection of hole bottoms in aircraft piston housings and similar components.
  • Aircraft structure, unit and engine surface inspections.
  • Through-paint detection of stress corrosion cracking in stainless and carbon steels.
  • Surface crack inspection on manufacturing and transportation equipment.

Absolute bridge
  • Internal reference coils ensure best matching to the test coil when used with Triax (Fischer™*) or Powerlink™ connectors.
  • Shielded coils improve resolution and signal clarity.
  • Detection of cracks in all orientations.
  • Globally common probe type with predictable response.
  • Cost-effective option for many surface inspection tasks.

Reflection type probes
Also referred to as send-receive or driver-pickup probes, suitable where separation of drive and sense coils is required.
  • Produces responses comparable to absolute bridge probes for many defect types.
  • Available with stacked or concentric driver/pickup coil arrangements.
  • Enables multi-directional crack detection.
  • Stable performance across temperature variations.
  • Operates over a wide frequency range for adjustable sensitivity.
