Description

Overview
Metal face E-Seals are engineered to operate in demanding applications such as aviation where light loading, flexibility, and high temperature capability are required. The seals operate primarily within the elastic limits of the material. Available as internal and external pressure face sealing solutions, they can be custom designed with platings or coatings to fill surface imperfections and produce a more effective seal.

Applications
  • Aviation components (e.g., gas turbine engine housings)
  • Gas turbines and power generation
  • Hot air ducting
  • Exhaust manifold couplings
  • Ball valve seat seals
  • Other cavities that experience large amounts of separation during normal operation

Key features
  • Superior flexibility and springback characteristics important for cavities with large separation
  • Designed for light compression loads with higher springback than many metallic seal types
  • Good fatigue resistance
  • High temperature capability
  • Can be supplied with platings/coatings to fill surface imperfections and improve sealing
  • Available as internal and external pressure face seals and customizable cross-sections, including multi-convoluted designs

Seal function & mechanical behaviour
E-Seals have excellent load-deflection relationships. Compression load requirements are very low with higher springback compared to other metallic seal types. Load requirements increase proportionally with system pressure, extending springback capability in extreme conditions.

Notes on PFAS
By its nature this component is PFAS-Free*. (PFAS-Free here means the manufacturer does not intentionally add PFAS materials in the product but does not exclude the possibility of traces.)
