Description

Overview
Site Scan for ArcGIS, part of the ArcGIS Reality product suite, is an end-to-end, cloud-based drone mapping and analytics software that manages image capture, processing and drone analytics. The platform supports automated fleet and mission management, repeatable flight plans and cloud processing to produce 2D and 3D deliverables for organization-wide sharing and analysis.

Key capabilities
  • Plan autonomous drone flights in 3D and overlay 2D/3D data to inform routing and enhance flight safety.
  • Process imagery at scale in the cloud to generate true orthomosaics, 3D meshes and point clouds with automatic ground control point detection.
  • Perform drone analytics: distance, area and volume measurements, temporal/change analysis, cut/fill maps and quality control against design overlays.
  • Publish and share drone data directly to an ArcGIS organization for advanced analytics including object detection and other AI workflows.
  • Enterprise fleet and mission management: track flights, drone hardware, pilot history and manage customizable preflight checklists stored in the cloud.
  • Integrate outputs with enterprise systems and BIM workflows for downstream use (export in common file formats and integrations with BIM environments).

How it works
  • Plan: create advanced 3D flight plans and import layers or 3D models to inform routing and safety.
  • Execute autonomous flight: complete preflight checklists and run autonomous missions.
  • Upload and process in the cloud: upload captured imagery for scalable processing and optional automatic or manual ground control point marking.
  • Visualize, analyze and share: view 2D and 3D outputs in a web browser, perform measurements, track change and invite stakeholders to view project data.
  • Publish content and perform advanced analysis: export or publish to an ArcGIS organization to run automated workflows such as deep learning/object detection or push content into BIM systems.

Recommended drones
  • Freefly Astro Max (NDAA/Blue) — quadcopter with RTK and a full-frame Sony sensor suitable for high-accuracy 2D and 3D mapping.
  • DJI Matrice 300 RTK with P1 mapping camera — enterprise multirotor with long endurance and a high-resolution sensor for reality mapping.
  • WingtraOne Gen II — fixed-wing VTOL drone for high-accuracy mapping of large areas and operations from confined launch sites.

Additional notes
Process large volumes of drone flight data in the cloud to create deliverables quickly. The system supports publishing to ArcGIS platforms, sharing read-only or analysis access with stakeholders, and integrating drone outputs with enterprise GIS, lidar, real-time data sources and BIM workflows.
